THEI #3
UFOs: Extraterrestrial or Co-Planetarian?
Part 6

Albert K. Bender & The Hollow Earth Connection
Ray Palmer, editor of several pulp magazines became the first Ufologist when he sent Kenneth Arnold $200 to investigate the Maury Island sightings. Kenneth Arnold, by accepting the assignment became the first UFO investigator. From that time on both were constantly harassed, intimidated and threatened. Arnold was shadowed, bugged and possibly had his plane sabotaged. The FBI, IRS and Postal Authorities investigated Palmer. Shipments of his books disappeared during shipping and he was once accused by a high ranking Air Force officer of inventing UFOs to increase sales of his magazines, which gained him the unwanted title of The Man Who Invented Flying Saucers.
It was through the letters columns of Palmer's magazine Other Worlds that I
first learned about Bender. A civilian-investigating agency was being formed in
Bridgeport, Conn., to look into the flying saucer mystery. He called the
organization The International Flying Saucer Bureau, welcomed membership and
assistance. (Page 3).Mr. Barker wrote Bender and became the West Virginia representative of IFSB. The response to the letter had been overwhelming and Representatives had already been appointed in fifteen states.
Bender was serious about his research and was the first Ufologist to seek networking with other groups around the world. In the first Issue of the IFSB newsletter Space Review Bender had stated: ... The mystery of the flying saucers will eventually be solved by calm, clear-thinking individuals. ... (Page 55).
By the middle of 1953 the organization had representatives in almost every state and branches in five countries. In the April issue of Space Review the staff had stated, A STARTLING REVELATION BY OUR PRESIDENT will be published in the next issue. (Page 78).
Then suddenly, out of the blue, Bender was telling his colleagues that he was quitting the saucer business. Upon being pushed for more information,
Al stated bluntly, I know the secret of the disks! He added that three men had visited him, and in effect shut him up completely as far as saucer investigation is concerned! (Page 82).
[It should be noted that this is the first modern-day account of the "infamous" "Men in Black", or MIBs. dgc]
Barker reported that Bender had not discontinued Space Review immediately. He published a few additional issues, but a great change had come over it. No saucers! (Page 155).
What had Bender found out? At the time, he never really said. However, he finally, after much urging from his colleagues, agreed to an interview with three of his closest friends in the UFO research field. Gray Barker was one of them. The ground rules were that he would answer no questions about the three men, or anything having to do with national security. That did not leave much room, and his answers were few and short. But in this case, I believe it is what he did not say that says it all.
Space does not allow me to present the whole question and answer session and it would serve no purpose. However I believe that the excerpts presented here are the most revealing parts of the interview.
The Quiz Excerpts
===================When did the three men visit you?
I can not answer that.Do saucers come from space?
I can not answer that.He continued with this stock answer to every question asked until he was asked the question, Can you tell me where you found your source of information?
I was turning a theory over and over in my mind. When I got some actual names and places to back it up I submitted it to someone. Then the men came.
Does it have anything to do with the Shaver Mystery?
For the first time in the interview Bender gave no answer at all and Gray noted that Bender tensed noticeably when asked the question. The questions continued to get the -- I can not answer that -- answer until, once again Shaver was brought into the picture."What do you think of Shaver. Is there anything to his stories?"
A. No answer: Bender changes the subject. (Page 95-100).
The fact that Bender refuse entirely to talk about the Inner Earth hypothesis and that he tensed noticeably and changed the subject when asked about Shaver is interesting. That they would ask him such a question is understandable. This was before the CIA extraterrestrial-is-the-only-answer educational program kicked in, and the freethinking Ufologist of the time were still considering other possibilities. A major area of speculation was the possibility that the UFOs home bases were located in some unknown area of the earth or under the seas. As we have seen that has changed. As James L. Thompson stated in his 1993 book, Aliens & UFOs: Messengers or Deceivers?
Interestingly, proponents of human/alien theories often believe that much of the visitation is by humans or humanoids from this planet.
The first theory is that human civilizations live in little-known subterranean regions of the Earth. These earthlings enjoy the benefits of monitoring us without being observed by us. They have all of our technology, plus that of ancient civilizations.
Is that as far-fetched as it sounds? In earlier reports of this series we have seen that the first government reports ... reports the government was forced to release under the freedom of information act ... reveled that "yes" the UFOs were real. That studies indicated that the UFOs were controlled by beings with technology far beyond ours, and that the maneuvers of the unknown craft are not believed to be conducive to space travel.
And then there is the country that, for a short period at least, refused to go along with the U.S. and British pressure to keep a lid on the UFO subject. That country was France. In 1974 the French Government funded a group given the name GEPAN. As reported by Randles and Warrington:
Dr. Pierre Guenin, an astronomer associated with the project wrote:
An intelligence controls the UFOs. - the governments of the earth know the truth, that they came from an intelligence which co-existed with us on the planet and may actually own us! but that they did not have the faintest clue how to present such a truth and maintain world order. (Page 62).
I believe that Albert K. Bender may have been slicker than anyone realizes. By answering all other questions he felt might jeopardize him or those questioning him with a No, then to remain silent when asked the two questions about the Shave Mystery and the possibility of a subterranean origin of UFOs he might very well have revealed what he claimed to know after all.
He knew The secret of the Disks: At least some of them come from planet earth. Most, if not all, of the owners of the unidentified flying machines are our Co-Planetarians! Accept it or not.

Food for Thought
Another interesting fact ... Bender had been in touch with several UFO groups in other countries. The leaders of the other UFO groups had been working together with Bender to map the paths of UFOs worldwide. They were looking into the fact that most of the tracked craft seemed to be coming and going from the polar regions. ... The Research continues ...

It is my firm view that the ground work has been prepared for a takeover of this planet by those who live inside it. ...
